… And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?
Revolutionize Education: RE: What do you think is too gruesome for HS history class?
Preface the discussion with a warning explaining that while some of the information presented in the lesson may be gruesome and graphic, it’s important to understand what happened in context. For example, we watched a pretty graphic video about the Vietnam War in a ninth grade US history class I…
In terms of Vietnam, you can’t fail to push the point that the war was televised across the US. The horror of it helped Americans to formulate an actual stance on whether or not American troops should have been involved. In that case especially, showing the gore of a war is important. It’s important for students to understand the severity of war. It’s easy to forget the troops overseas and what they are faced with if you’re a 16 year old American high school student that is more focused on Facebook than anything else, so I think showing these images and videos forces students to formulate their own opinions on war and if it’s worth it or not.

A young Bill Clinton shaking hands with President John F. Kennedy on July 24th, 1963. Who would have thought back in 1963 that this photo would contain two United States Presidents? [ Source Bill Clinton meets John F. Kennedy ]
48 years later…I can’t even wrap my head around how much my life has been impacted by The Beatles (and I haven’t even been alive for half of that time). Even as I write I’m listening to Paul McCartney’s newest album and preparing a radio show of two straight hours of their music to celebrate this remarkable moment in history. Cheers to John, Paul, George and Ringo! <3
An intro to Tumbling…
Welcome to my first-ever professional account on a social networking site. I use Tumblr in my own life to share websites, videos, music and photos of things I am passionate about, find interesting or just plain want everyone to see! Tumblr is an amazing tool for finding information on the internet as well as connecting with like-minded others.
A little about me, I am a college student majoring in secondary education and social studies with a concentration on political science. I have a lot to learn and love finding out new things. I’m excited to become an educator in my future and think I have a lot to offer to students as well as my colleagues!
Thanks for reading and happy Tumbling!
